ABOUT SIPs

Structural Insulated Panels for New Home and Commercial Building Construction.

A Better Building Alternative
Structural Insulated Panels (SIP Panels), as tested by the U.S. Department of Energy, have been proven to outperform conventional frame construction by at least 66% for energy efficiency. TDHD® SIP Panels are 2-1/2 times stronger than conventional framing, cut the framing process down to approximately 1/3rd the time, and offer superior noise and weather isolation over traditional framing methods.

Exceeding New Building Standards
Meets new building standardsby placing an emphasis on better insulated, more tightly constructed and energy efficient buildings. SIP Panels currently exceed new stringent construction standards.

For Quality Construction
Oriented Strand Board, or OSB, is an engineered wood product formed by layering strands (flakes) of wood in specific orientations. In appearance it has a rough and variegated surface with the individual strips (around 2.5 by 15 cm each) lying unevenly across each other in the direction of their grain.

SIP BENEFITS

SIP Panels Define The Meaning of Quality
Have you ever looked down the edge of a stud wall and noticed how it bends, bulges, twists and cups due to the increasingly poor quality of lumber? This does not happen with a SIP Panel wall. SIP Panel walls are straight, plumb and square. The continuous aluminum surface gives you a sound nail-base for all exterior and interior finishes.

SIP Panel Homes Redefine The Meaning of Comfort
Your SIP Panel home will be one of the most comfortable, quiet and clean structures you will ever own. Unlike a stick-frame or concrete block home, in which thermal performance is an afterthought, insulation is an integral part of a SIP Panel home. Air and moisture penetrations are greatly reduced because there are so few thermal breaks.

SIP Panels Are Simply A Better Building Alternative
Are you looking for a better construction or building alternative? People who consider building their dream home do so because they want it to be uniquely theirs and perfect for a lifetime. SIP Panels are structurally stronger and straighter, considerably quieter and start paying you back the moment you move in through the reduced costs of heating and cooling. In a SIP Panel home the framer "installs" the panel sections rather than "builds" them. This saves time and ensures that the walls are straight and plumb.

SIP Panels Are Insect Resistant
Ants, termites and other insects are common throughout the United States and can affect both stick frame and SIP buildings. Our expanded polystyrene beads are coated with a natural insect resistant product before the molding process. SIP panels are sprayed with a natural, non-toxic insect resistant mineral through our quality control procedures to help combat these types of insects. SIP Panels are no more susceptible to infestation than stick frame. Good construction practices should be used in the design and construction of SIP buildings to avoid insect infestation.

SIP Panels Are Environmentally Friendly
One of the best ways to think about the impact of SIPs on the environment is to consider their energy efficiency. Because our panels are so efficient, the demand for fossil fuel consumption (such as gas, oil and coal) and the releasing of greenhouse gas emissions (like carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere are greatly reduced during the years you heat and cool your home, resulting in a cleaner environment. SIP panels also promote green building benefits, as they are 100% recyclable and generate considerably less jobsite waste in comparison to conventional stick-framing building methods. This means less waste material being put into our landfills.

SIP Panel Effects on Your Personal Environment
Studies linking respiratory disease, allergies and other diseases to indoor air quality have spawned an array of less toxic products and improved indoor ventilation. Our panels are very airtight giving you precise control over the indoor air quality of your home, which helps to keep out allergens, humidity, dust, etc..

WHY CHOOSE SIPs

SIPs can positively impact many stages of the building process and help you stay on schedule. The insulation is already incorporated into our SIP Panels. The electrical chases are factory installed in the foam, eliminating the time and labor expense associated with on-site drilling. SIP Panel walls are flat and plumb so the drywall contractor completes his work faster along with a better final finish. The interior finishes, including cabinetry, flooring, moldings, etc. will be installed easier due to the continuous attachment surface provided by the OSB. No more searching for studs.

SIP Panels benefit from being made with "factory precision". This precision enables the home to be very tight, which reduces the size of your heating and air conditioning unit (HVAC) by up to 20%, giving you immediate savings. And over the years you'll enjoy significantly lower energy costs too.
Strength of building materials and systems are judged by their ability to withstand the forces of nature. Data to determine strength properties is gathered through destructive testing. Specific tests are utilized to evaluate a wall's performance in high winds or earthquakes. The testing program on SIP Panel systems is the most extensive in the industry. This ongoing program involves independent third party testing agencies that provide state-of-the-art evaluations of structural, fire resistant, energy consumption and sound attenuation properties of the system.
Structural Insulated Panels utilize flat foam and engineered non-veneer Oriented Strand Board (OSB). This means no bulging studs. No twisted lumber. No shrinkage or curvatures due to drying. No cups or warps as found in outdated stick framing. Drywall installers have flat surfaces to work with and do not have to find studs to place fasteners and screws. Cabinets hang on a flat plane without shims or ugly nailing misses. Counter tops can be installed with little or no scribing of the counter to the irregular surface of stud framing. Pictures can be mounted without having to find suitable structure behind the drywall.
